Malacañang of the North: A look inside Pres. Marcos House

Malacañang Ti Amianan, as the locals called it, is located in Ilocos Norte, northern part of the Philippines. This wonderfully built house was the official residence of the 10th President of the Philippines, Pres. Ferdinand Marcos in the north. As history may tell, the former president faced many controversies during his reign but he also made the country known to the world and helped shaped the nation to what it is today. At present, the Malacañang of the North was opened to the public and converted into a museum. It now served as a window for Filipinos at this time to have look inside the lives of the people in the past, to reflect on  and to share to the world.
In the past, you won't see houses like this owned by ordinary Filipino unless of course if you were one of the elites in the country, a businessmen, or a president for that matter. This was the main entrance to the house. I was so amazed how they maintained the structure of the house. Most of the things you can see here were  authentic memorabilia of the Marcoses.
There were two areas I really loved about the house. First was this grand staircase and the other was the back yard overlooking the Paoay Lake.
The house was so wide and made to be airy. I was really having fun looking at the display inside the house. It has a number of living room areas for guests/visitors and family. Portraits of Pres. Marcos and the first lady Imelda were also visible.
The former president surely is looking good on this painting and his life-sized statue wearing the Barong Tagalog.
The famous Filipiniana gown worn by the first lady. To date, many Filipino stylists creates different looks/designs of Filipiniana gowns and the Barong Tagalog. Even dresses evolved as much as people do.
In the second level of the house there were still many living room and dining areas for family and guests. I was completely amazed by it. This just shows how elite Filipinos, especially a President lived a life of extravagance in the past.
This was one of the many dining areas of the house. This was located on the second floor.
This was also one of the many bedrooms in the house. To me it was just simple looking but of course this was the past and eventually designs evolved by then.
A painting of the famous Paoay Church was also displayed inside the house.
The location of the house was really amazing. It was overlooking the wonderful Paoay Lake. This was the back view of the house. I felt the power and royalty of the Marcoses when I went outside. The beautiful view with the Paoay Lake just says it all.
Paoay Lake was so beautiful. This was my other favorite spot in the house. I can only imagine how people celebrated parties and important events in this area. I bet they were all mesmerized looking at this.
A closer look at the back lobby of the house.
The Malacañang of the North really did surprised all of us. It was indeed a nice look into our past.
Someday I'm hoping to have a house much like this by the beach.

Ciao!
